The book was a source of knowledge, but Consumer-Centered Education requires something more: if education is to understand what each learner wants to know, the learner must be able to communicate.

Technology alone does not make education consumer-centered. No matter how much information is available, an educational supplier cannot provide what an individual learner needs without understanding that learner.
The education consumer must be able to express: What am I curious about? What do I want to know? What don't I understand? What would I like to explore further?
